Services
Through Alternatives, adults with psychiatric or developmental disabilities find personalized services that give them the skills and supports they need to build meaningful lives in the community - lives that include real homes, real jobs, and real relationships. Every person we serve begins each day with an individualized plan for a brighter future - a plan that focuses on their hopes and dreams, while addressing their clinical and medical needs.
For individuals with developmental disabilities, we offer day, residential, and employment programs as well as clinical services. For adults with psychiatric disabilities, we have residential options, social and employment programs, and the complete clinical services necessary to nurture and support their recovery.
Recognizing that transportation is essential for people, especially in areas with little public transportation, to fully participate in community life, Alternatives maintains a fleet of 75 vehicles. Whether they live in one of our residential programs or not, most of the individuals we serve have access to daily, door-to-door pickup that gets them to day programs, jobs and other activities.
Alternatives also offers Adult Family Care, a program that provides assistance to families who are caring for a family member, whether disabled or not, who meet eligibility requirements and need help with one of more of the tasks of daily living such as bathing, eating or dressing. Adult Family Care is also available to help support qualifying individuals placed in homes with caregivers who are not relatives.
Alternatives offers a wide variety of programs throughout Central Massachusetts, all of which reflect our commitment to providing the highest quality services possible. Our Quality Improvement and Human Rights teams and others work hard to make sure that commitment is met on every day, in every program.
