Community Phase of Alternatives Capital Campaign Kicks Offs Alternatives will host a Sneak Preview and Appreciation Breakfast for donors to their Whitin Mill Project on Wednesday, June 27th starting at 8 AM. The event is to thank those who have donated during the quiet phase of the capital campaign and to launch the Community Phase of the campaign.
“I have been privileged to speak with many people who have come to appreciate the importance of this Renovation,” said Scott Rossiter, Volunteer Chair of the Capital Campaign Steering Committee. “We are extremely grateful to the generosity to the individuals, corporations, foundations and the state for their leadership gifts.” The Campaign has raised more than $3.5 Million to date with a goal of raising $4.2 million in support of the $9.2 Million renovation project.
Leading the Community Phase campaign is Lee Gaudette, President of Gaudette Insurance and a long time supporter of Alternatives, the human service organization which owns and is coordinating the transformation of the historic Mill into a multi-purpose community asset.
"Alternatives has shown great vision and confidence in leading the way on this project. The Blackstone Valley will be dramatically enhanced by the unique shops and restaurant surrounding the riverside community plaza that is being created as an important crossroads,” said Lee Gaudette. “I am proud to chair the Community Phase that will bring us ‘over the top’ in achieving the $4.2 million goal for this worthwhile project.”
The renovated Whitin Mill will feature artisan space, a theater/training space, restaurant and art gallery. It will also house Alternatives’ administrative offices, an employment office and affordable housing for people served by Alternatives. All surround a riverside community plaza featuring a labyrinth. The entire complex will be provided with heating/air conditioning and electricity provided through green, renewable energy.
Office, artisan and restaurant space is now being leased. For information or to schedule a or brochure contact Dennis Rice at Alternatives, 54 Douglas Road, Whitinsville, MA 508 234-0853 309 or dennis.rice@alternativesnet.org
